Rowanna Lacey’s work has evolved from over 15 years experience of Art Direction and Styling within the British and American Film and Television Industry working on independent films as well as productions for MGM, the BBC, Channel 4 and ultimately for acclaimed British Film Director, Mike Leigh. Deciding to use her skills and experience from the film industry Rowanna embarked on her journey into Surface & Textile Print Design where, at her studio, she creates pieces for her printed textile and accessories label ‘Drawn Surface’. Sustainable and natural fibres are at the heart of the Drawn Surface Studio, with products in development focusing on using local manufacturers and suppliers, signifying circular design. Rowanna has been involved with commercial and commissioned projects that span Hospitality, Architecture, Event, Corporate, Retail and Exhibitions sectors, delivering innovative creative design environments, and elements for brands, large or small. Her work has been exhibited in London and in the North of England. 'Beautiful Strange', a key piece of work, is held in the permanent collection at the University of the Arts London (UAL). Her work has been featured in the national and international design press.
Rowanna graduated from the London College of Communication with a First Class Honours Degree in Surface Design. In 2007 Rowanna was presented with the ‘Woodgate Stephens Award’ for Outstanding Contribution to Surface Design.

Rowanna has taught at UAL in London and currently lectures at Manchester School of Art on the Textiles in Practice BA Hons course.
